MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS AND IMMIGRATION

On 4th December 2012, Hon. Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana was appointed by H.E Dr. Hage G. Geingob, the President of the Republic of Namibia as Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration, a position she holds to date.

THE PENDUKENI IIVULA-ITHANA PERSONA:

Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana is an independent-minded leader with an even-keel temperament, charismatic speaking skills and a knack for consensus-building. She is also a well versed law graduate from the University of Namibia.

Her values are strongly shaped by her expertise as an LLB and B Juris graduate, and by Christianity. While private by nature, Hon. Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana mingles easily with others.

PRAGMATIC, HANDS-ON AND PROGRESSIVE PERSONALITY

Hon. Ithana was elected Secretary General of SWAPO Party at the Congress of 2007 and she served a full term of five years until November 2012, when she contested   the position of vice-presidency of the Party. Actually, she is the first woman in  the history of  the  Party SWAPO, to  run for the vice-presidency position, which meant that she could have become Namibia’s first female president in 2015 had she won at the Congress.

On 4th December 2012, Hon.Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana was appointed by H.E.Dr Hage G. Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia as Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration.

Upon assuming office as Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration, her new vision became that of creating a Ministry that is efficient in service delivery, ensuring faster, better and quality service to the Namibian nation.

Within a period of less than two years of her leadership at this establishment, the results of the Turnaround project she initiated became visible to the delight and appreciations of the public.
